This MMA site is dedicated to the art of Russian SAMBO and Russian SAMBO instruction, along with
providing a showcase for Classic MMA casual and fight night apparel.
The word "VOIN" means "warrior" in Russian. Every fighter that steps in to the MMA cage, or competes in a SAMBO competition, is a warrior. The VOIN MMA logo represents the warrior in each of us, and further represents the charitable intent of VOIN MMA.
The focus of the logo is a monument by Soviet sculptor Yevgeney Vuchetich: a 12-m tall monument of a Soviet soldier with a sword holding a child.
Vuchetich's inspiration for the monument was Soviet soldier Nikolai
Masalov (1922-2004), who on April 30, 1945 found a German girl
wandering alone during the Battle of Berlin
and brought her to safety. Despite rumors that this episode was Soviet
propaganda, officially confirmed documents exist that substantiate at least five
cases of Russian soldiers delivering small German children to orphanages during the Battle of Berlin.
All proceeds from this site are dedicated to the Karuna Institute, a
nonprofit established in 2002 to support at-risk children in Russian orphanages, and for the Barretstown Children's Camp in Ireland. See www.karunainstitute.org.
